I've been working on the game again, however not on the parts I've told about before. Something is holding me from starting on campaign AI, I just can't focus on it, so I decided to start working on something entirely different. I introduce you to the battlefield!![]() When you meet an enemy army on the campaign map you have two options. Retreat and gain nothing or take your weapons and face the enemy. Of course the latter is the only option that will give you the opportunity to expand your territory, the basic objective of this game. In a normal campaign it's not likely that two armies of the size of the screenshot will be fielded but there will be an option to play custom battles where you can fight battles of 99 units against 99 enemy units. Every of the 12 faction has the 2 basic units and 5 additional special units, with their own stats. The battle is turn-based, like the campaign map, and you can move one unit every turn. Every time you moved a unit your turn automatically ends and all your units attack enemies in borderings cells and all your archers shoot at the targets you gave them. ![]() Unfortunately, this feature also needs AI. I've been working on AI deployment giving the result in the first screenshot. I also started on AI movement but that's going to take some more effort. I hope I can make some quick progress on this feature because I'm thinking of releasing a battledemo for publicity. It's not very motivating to write this blog knowing that nobody reads it. The campaign is far from playable so no demo for that in the near future. | Comments ArDi 2009-02-12 13:20:24 What exactly do you mean? You want more info about it? The next blog update will probably be about battles too Keliassault 2009-02-11 21:20:42 exciting and educational, but would make something more on this topic? Leave a Comment |
