Hi everybody!
As promised, here is the first demo of Imperial Domination II! Don't expect a fully playable game though. This demo is just to show the basic features of the game. The AI is still in early stages and most things need more balancing. I release this demo because I hope to receive some constructive feedback. Read more 2 comments |
I'm really glad to say that I've been working a lot on Imperial Domination II again in the past days. The long break I took was important because now I can look at the game with fresh ideas. Read more 1 comments |
I'm sorry to say that development on Imperial Domination II stopped for a while. Due to personal stuff I don't have enough time to work on the game. Don't be afraid though, I always take long breaks a couple of times for every project. When I decide to continue I'll have new inspiration and new ideas so I can work on it a lot again. It's been 3 weeks already since the last update. Time flies. Most big features of Imperial Domination II are already explained in previous updates and what I've been working on in the past weeks are mostly small game mechanics that are very important but not interesting to read about Read more 1 comments |
I've spend quite some time developing the Campaign again. I've added a lot of small features but I'm going to tell some more about diplomacy in this update.
My aim is to make this game a strategy game with a lot of depth. Read more 1 comments |
Finally an update! I'm sorry it took so long but I have to spend a lot of time working for my study. I'm glad I can finally announce the Battle Demo! The demo only allows to play single battles, the campaign is far from playable.

The battlefieldpart of Imperial Domination II is slowly becoming a solid feature. However, it requires a good strategy to win a battle and this makes it very hard to program the AI. I've spend some hours looking to the screen thinking of the best way to solve this but those where some very wasted hours. In almost every blogpost I complain about not wanting to program AI and it should get a bit boring to read, but I'll try to explain why it's so hard. Read more 0 comments |
I've been working on the game again, however not on the parts I've told about before. Something is holding me from starting on campaign AI, I just can't focus on it, so I decided to start working on something entirely different. I introduce you to the battlefield! Read more 2 comments |
After a short break I decided to update my website before continuing working on Imperial Domination II. I've changed the games page and created my own blogsystem. Personally I think the side is a lot more complete now since it doesn't use the external blog anymore. Read more 1 comments |
Hi everybody!
Progress is slower then I thought. During Christmas Holidays I've been very busy studying and I still am. In the last three weeks I only occasionally worked on the game. That way I never really got into the 'flow' of game making which I get in when working on one project a lot. To make things worse for the development, I'm going on holidays for two weeks next Sunday. I know, it's a strange timing but I think I deserved some time in the son after spending a lot of time for my study. I can't wait to leave the freezing Netherlands for the sun!
However, development didn't entirely stop. I haven't worked on the AI as much as I said because big things require to get in the 'flow' I talked about. I did work on the statistics of the provinces. Although they are far from polished, I have worked out my ideas, which I'll discuss here. Read more 0 comments |
Hi,
Just a small post on the AI I'm going to develop. I found out about a very nice tool on the GMC, yEd Graph Editor. Using this tool I created the following graph to show the way I'm thinking to create the AI Read more 3 comments |
As you have read in the previous post it is essential to produce enough knowledge to keep up with your enemy. However, money is possibly even more important! One way to generate money is by raising taxes on your citizen. But too high taxes might lead to unrest in your provinces. There is another way to get money, and that's trading. Read more 1 comments |
This is the second post where I will talk about the features which are already on their way to be called completed. This time I'll talk about knowledge.
There is no doubt about the fact that Romans were better developed than for example the Gauls. So when you have a Roman army fighting a Gallic army of equal size, the Roman army should win. Still I want to give the Gallic player in Imperial Domination II the opportunity to defeat the Romans without fielding 10 times the amount of soldiers.
That's why I came up with the system of knowledge. Read more 3 comments |
Welcome to Imperial Domination II! If you played it's predecessor you know the basic ideas behind this strategy game. It's turn-based and the ultimate goal is to conquer all provinces. But there is more to it than it seems. You have to keep an eye on the population of the provinces you control in order to prevent revolts and to get the maximum out of them. Especially this part of Imperial Domination will be enhanced in this sequel. Read more 1 comments |
Hi everybody, Welcome to my first blog! I'm not to much of a writer but I'll try to update this blog once in a while. The main purpose of this blog is to inform anybody who's interested in the progress of the games in progress. First of all a warning: I'm not guaranteeing that I will ever finish a game because I'm very bad at keeping focus on one project, but I'll try my best. Read more 1 comments |
